The Tel Aviv- Yafo Municipality and the Yehoshua Rabinowitz Foundation for the Arts are proud to present “Exit Strategies" a one of a kind art exhibition inviting the public to safely discover 40 works of art and artistic experiences scattered across the city. The artistic event, taking place during the Holiday of Shavuot is part of the municipality's efforts to support local artists during these challenging times.
In recent times, culture and art seem to exist only in virtual spaces, and a return to fully functioning cultural institutions is not yet on the horizon. “Exit Strategies” place art as a necessary and important place in our society. The artists will present their works created in the spirit of the coronavirus and the thoughts that arose during the confinement. The exhibition seeks to promote thought and action towards possible changes in cultural life through the reexamination of the relationship between art and the community, between artists and usable public spaces, while reducing living space, personal and collective reverberation to the present period.
Participating artists include Sigalit Landau, Bat Sheva Dancers, Naomi Yoeli, Daniel Landau, Dor Zelicha Levi, Gili Avishar and more. Among the works that will be on display throughout the city: a lighting installation in the Habima Square pool, a Viking street concert, a digital mural, couples sailing in the Yarkon river, a nature capsule in offering residents to pick fruit from the temporary orchard, video art installations and more.
The festival is an initiative of the Department of the Arts in the Tel Aviv- Yafo Municipality and the Yehoshua Rabinowitz Foundation for the Arts in line with the municipality's policy to support its local artists and encouraging independent creation throughout the year, and more specifically in light of the coronavirus crisis.
The festival joins the NIS 700,000 artist aid fund founded by Tel Aviv-Yafo Mayor Ron Huldai. Additional initiatives by the Yehoshua Rabinowitz Foundation for the Arts include: the “Essential Marks” festival- a week long online music festival featuring local independent artists, the “Cinemanya” festival, during which hundreds of short films were screened online; The “Israel Connects” events of the Ministry of Culture, during which six daily hours of original content were filmed and broadcasted and dozens of online events from municipal cultural institutions.
The exhibition will be on display during Shavuot, Thursday, May 28 starting at 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 29 from 7:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, May 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
