For the 5th Year in a Row:
Tel Aviv is Israel's #1 Destination for Aliyah (Immigration)
For the 5th year in a row, Tel Aviv is the #1 destination for immigration, with 4,419 new Olim (immigrants) who chose to make Tel Aviv their new home in 2019. In the past year, Israel welcomed some 35,119 immigrants, according to a report by the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption; 12.7% of the new immigrants chose to settle in Tel Aviv, the Nonstop City. The report also showed that most of the immigrants who arrived in Tel Aviv hail from Russia, The United States and France. In 2019, Tel Aviv also welcomed Olim from countries such as Singapore, Honduras, Nepal, India and Peru.
The Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality supports the Aliyah and absorption of new immigrants by offering them various programs; numerous workshops covering important topics such as job searching, resume writing and entrepreneurship; and tailor-made programs to assist them in their absorption, offered in three languages. This past year, over 1,900 job-seeking Olim attended both the yearly employment fair organized by the Tel Aviv-Yafo Department for Immigration and Absorption, as well as dozens of lectures, concerts, performances and cultural tours that were organized especially for them. All activities were done in cooperation with the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption.
The Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Ron Huldai: "Absorption and Aliyah is an important asset for Tel Aviv-Yafo. We feel honored that year after year, Tel Aviv is chosen as the number one Aliyah destination and welcome the immigrants, who chose to make Tel Aviv their new home and contribute by making this city more interesting, diverse and cosmopolitan".
